Bin lorry crash sees Swanley Lane in Swanley closed by police

A serious crash involving a bin lorry has forced a road to be closed.

The collision at the junction of New Road and Swanley Lane in Swanley was reported at 11.30am and police and paramedics were called.

Ambulances and the air ambulance were also sent.

An ambulance service spokesman confirmed medics attended what he described as "a serious incident" but no details about casualties have been released yet.

A spokesman for Sevenoaks District Council said: "Earlier today, one of our refuse vehicles was involved in an incident in Swanley Lane, Swanley.

"The police are investigating the circumstances and we will release further information as soon as we can."

As of 4pm, Swanley Lane remained closed in both directions due to accident investigation work between B2173 Bartholomew Way and Downsview Close.
