A shoplifter found with a knife at a popular shopping destination has been jailed.

Majid Yazdanpanah was sentenced to six months' imprisonment after being caught stealing at Bluewater.

The weapon was found when officers arrested him shortly before 4pm last Wednesday.

The 46-year-old, from Derby, was charged with one count of shoplifting and possession of a knife.

He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court last Friday(February 17), and pleaded guilty to both charges.

Another man arrested at the same time denied one count of shoplifting and was remanded in custody until a second appearance at Medway Magistrates’ Court this Friday. (February 24)
