The crowning glory for sisters Miller and Kesia Simpson having almost 2ft of hair cut off between them was raising more than £900 for charity.

The youngsters decided to have their tresses lopped for the Little Princess Trust, an organisation which provides wigs using real hair for children who have lost their own through illness, or medical conditions and treatments.

But the girls, who live in Taunton Road, Northfleet, went to extra lengths by deciding to also raise money for the ellenor hospice in Northfleet where their grandad Paul Rhodes died when they were younger.

Miller, eight, and seven-year-old Kesia had the chop courtesy of the team at Tonic salon in Swanscombe, and could not wait to see their new sleek bobbed hairstyles.

Mum Sara Coe, 37, said: “I’m very, very proud of them and they are amazed at the amount they have raised. To be honest so am I, but in their eyes it’s nearly £1,000 which is a very big number when they are only doing 100s, 10s and units at school.

“There were no nerves at all from the girls, just tons of excitement. They were both up and raring to go at 6am on the day and Kes was so happy for her hair to finally be long enough to donate.

“They are over the moon at their new hairstyles and I love how different they look. I’d also like to say a huge thank you to the lovely ladies at Tonic, who were brilliant, and to everybody who sponsored the girls.”

Miller left the salon with her hair one foot shorter while Kesia had 11in cut off. The girls, who go to Manor Community Primary School in Swanscombe, also smashed their Justgiving fundraising target of £700 by raising £923.

They were inspired to have their hair cut off after meeting a girl with alopecia at their school.
Sara added: “I know every parent sings their children’s praises, but my girls are really special. They love helping others.”
