Kent Fire and Rescue tackle blaze in Highlands Hill, Swanley

Six fire engines were called to tackle a blaze involving cars and outbuildings.

People in the area surrounding Highlands Hill, in Swanley, were advised to keep windows and doors closed after the fire broke out in the early hours of this morning.

Kent Fire and Rescue said they were called at 1.04am.

They asked people to share the advice with loved ones in the affected area, who may not have access to the internet.

At 3.10am the fire service issued an update to say the earlier advice for residents to keep windows and doors closed had been lifted.

A spokesperson said: “Four fire engines remain at the scene of the fire in Highlands Hill, in Swanley, and crews are using hose reel jets and main jets to bring the fire under control.”

At 8am they reported that the fire was out.

They said a number of cars and two outbuildings have been destroyed in the fire that's believed to have started accidentally.

There were no reported injuries.
