Spuds are back on the menu at a popular shopping centre food court following a successful takeover.

Spudulike, which serves oven baked potatoes in the winter garden at Bluewater shopping centre, Greenhithe has reopened its doors to customers.

The fast food chain entered into administration just nine weeks ago and closed down 37 branches which employed 298 people.

Bluewater's branch will sprout from the soil once more following a successful takeover bid from family-run spud sourcers, Albert Bartlett.

The company has been working with farmers since 1948 and has a number of changes lined up for potato connoisseurs.

These include a Spudulike dessert menu, barista-style coffee selection, and a range of responsibly sourced ingredients.

In an instant mash-up to its pricing six classic spud offerings will now start from £4.49 with "luxury" filled jacket potatoes now priced under £6.50 each.

Spudulike's Bluewater branch, manager, Lesley Byott, said: “Who would have thought we’d be back in business, doing what we do best, baking the tastiest potatoes at Bluewater Shopping Centre for our band of fans in Kent?"
