Police appeal for owners of stolen property found on cyclist after thefts from cars in Dartford

Officers are trying to track down the owners of suspected stolen property reportedly found on a cyclist who had broken into parked cars.

Patrols responded to a report a person was spotted acting suspiciously and looking into vehicles in Dartford on Monday at around 3.15am.

The suspect, a 24-year-old man from Dartford, was stopped on a black and white bicycle and arrested on suspicion of going equipped to steal.

Officers also recovered a large number of items in his possession following the incident in the Osbourne Road area of the town.

These included brown sunglasses, an alcohol testing kit in a cardboard box, Ray-Ban sunglasses in a case, a white Huawei phone charger and a silver sequin purse.

Also seized were a car charger with a white USB cable, a black Lynx car air freshener, a black car charger, a Muzii earphones case, a Ray-Ban sunglasses case, a white and black iPhone charger and a small brown pouch containing a quantity of cash.

The man has been released pending further inquiries.

Sgt Delana Horne said: "We suspect some of the seized items may be stolen and are appealing to Dartford victims of crime who believe that any of this property may belong to them, to call our appeal line."
