Officers were later flagged down by members of the public who said the rider had fallen from the vehicle after performing wheelies.

They searched the area surrounding Knights Manor Way and arrested a 17-year-old boy found crouching in the undergrowth for theft and driving offences.

Inquiries linked to the teenager's phone and home address in Welling has also led to him being arrested in connection with the supply of Class-A drugs and for possessing an offensive weapon.

The suspect was later released from custody while an investigation continues.
