Several shops and stalls at Bluewater Shopping Centre were targeted by suspected thieves in the early hours.

Police were called to reports of burglaries taking place at the centre in Greenhithe at 1.42am.

Two suspected thieves have been taken in for questioning after shops at Bluewater were raided

It is alleged two men were seen taking items and were seen running from the shopping centre before being detained while trying to discard evidence.

A police spokesman said: "Officers worked in close liaison with security staff at the shopping centre and within eight minutes of the call being received two men had been arrested on suspicion of theft and burglary."

The suspects, aged 19 and 20 and both from Northfleet, were questioned and have since been released under investigation.
