Dartford: Third Kent corn fire in two days breaks out

Firefighters were called out to the third standing corn fire in two days.

Smoke was seen rising from a hedge adjacent to the London-bound A2, near Hawley Road, Dartford, just after 6pm on Monday.

Crews were called out and discovered a 25m long patch of grass, hedge and scrub was alight.

Highways England was also called to the scene to ensure firefighters could battle the flames safely next to traffic.

By 6.30pm the fire was out.

On Sunday firefighters in Stodmarsh and in Stockbury were called out to standing corn fires.
