Tony Burman will not pay over the odds to replace Charlie Sheringham if he leaves Dartford

Dartford manager Tony Burman insists the club are not going to be silly if they have to find a replacement for in-demand striker Charlie Sheringham.
Sheringham’s terrific form has attracted the attentions of Football League clubs and the Darts announced on Saturday they had accepted an offer for the 23-year-old from AFC Bournemouth.
The League 1 club invited Sheringham to Dorset for talks earlier this week and Burman (pictured) has already begun to look at potential transfer targets if the deal goes through.
However, he insists the Darts will not pay over the odds for a new forward, even if Sheringham does move away for a fee believed to more than £25,000.
He said: "There are lots of players around but lots are on contract.
"We’d be looking to bring in a player who would strengthen the squad and there are plenty of good strikers in the lower leagues, as well as the league above.
"You just don’t know what clubs want for their services. We’re not going to be silly with it, we’ll give what we think is right."
Dartford, who have been drawn at home to Bromley in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup on October 29, return to league action at home to Truro on Saturday and at Thurrock on Tuesday night.
