A 16-year-old boy has been bailed pending further inquires after a teacher was allegedly attacked at a secondary school in Dartford on Thursday, December 17.

A 14-year-old who was arrested alongside the older boy had earlier been released on bail until January 15.

It was reported two people walked into the The Leigh Academy in Green Street, Green Road, just before 3.30pm and apparently attacked a male member of staff who challenged them.

Police were called to reports of a disturbance.

Reports on social media suggested the school was put in lockdown after two youths in masks and hoodies walked in.

A police spokesman said two teenagers aged 14 and 16 were arrested on suspicion of assault and burglary.

In a statement, The Leigh Academy said: "At the end of the school day two youths gained entry to the Leigh Academy site and made their way to the staff offices.

"They were quickly discovered by a male member of staff who challenged their presence.

"The police were called and two youths were apprehended and arrested by Kent Police officers.

"No students from the academy were injured during this incident and the school is open as usual tomorrow."

This morning, (Saturday), a police spokesman confirmed the 16-year-old boy arrested in connection with the incident had been bailed until January 15, pending further inquiries.
