Two cats have been found dumped by a roadside in a carrier full of faeces.

A member of the public spotted the animals in Swanscombe on Wednesday, October 18 and took them straight to a local vet practice.

The pair were treated for fleas, vaccinated and neutered.

It’s thought they’d been in there for some time as the carrier was covered in faeces and urine.

They are now at RSPCA Kent North West branch and will be rehomed. Staff have named them Pumpkin and Spice.

Branch animal welfare officer, Emma Byrne, said: “Sadly this is the latest in a spate of abandonments of cats and other animals.

“We are seeing animals being dumped at least once a week.

“It’s really sad that so many people are giving up pets in this way, just dumping them and leaving them so vulnerable.

“We are urging people not to abandon animals in this way. There is always an alternative option.

“Speak to local animal welfare charities who may be able to help find a way to keep your pet or rehome them.”

Anyone with information about these cats can contact the RSPCA’s inspector appeal line number by calling 0300 123 8018.
