Investigation launched after two people were injured after Met Police chase which ended in Rochester Way, Dartford

A man and a woman were injured after officers chased two motorbikes which they believed were stolen.

Officers from Kent assisted Met officers in Dartford on Wednesday night during the pursuit which resulted in a collision after the bikes failed to stop.

The matter has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, which has begun an investigation.

A pursuit started in Greenwich and came to a halt at the junction of Rochester Way, Dartford, after the one of the bikes collided with another vehicle.

Two men on the bike fled the scene and inquiries to trace them are ongoing.

Metropolitan Police Service spokesman Chioma Dijeh said: "The driver of vehicle, a man in his 60s was taken to a South London hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

"A woman, in her 40s, a pedestrian was also found injured at the scene.

"Her injuries were not life threatening.

"The Met's directorate of professional standards have been informed and the incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct who have launched an independent investigation."
