A Kent town has been identified as a property 'hot spot' according to statistics released today.

Swanley, together with neighbouring Bexley, features in a list of 10 towns where house prices have increased by the highest percentage since the beginning of the year.

Bexley is in joint fifth place. The average property price in the town is £477,981, an increase of £29,431, or 6.56%, since January.

Swanley isn't far behind at number eight. A property there will set you back an average £362,671, which has increased by £22,099, 6.49%, since the New Year.

The top property hot spot in the country is Belper in Derbyshire while Britain's biggest 'cold spot' - the place where property prices have fallen the most in the last six months - is Richmond, North Yorkshire.

The statistics were released today by property website Zoopla, which also revealed the feature most people search its site for when looking for the perfect home is a garage.
