Two men arrested on the M25 between Dartford and the Maidstone turn off were allegedly targeted lorries

Two suspected thieves who allegedly targeted lorries were brought to a stop by traffic officers on the M25.

Police brought a car to a controlled stop on the anti-clockwise between Junction 2 for Dartford and Junction 3 for Maidstone and Swanley at around midnight on Friday, February 24.

Kent police were acting on intelligence which informed them a suspicious vehicle was travelling towards Kent from a service station in Surrey.

Two men were arrested after allegedly targeting lorries.

With the support of Surrey Police and the National Police Air Service, the car was brought to a controlled stop and two men were arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle.

A 39-year-old man from Grays, Essex, and a 35-year-old man of no fixed address were arrested.

Following the arrest it was identified that 21 lorries vehicles parked at a nearby service station had been broken in to.

Surrey Police are conducting ongoing enquiries into the matter.

The men have since been released, pending further enquiries.
