A main road into a village has been partially closed due to fly-tipping – and could stay shut for a week.

School Lane, in Horton Kirby, near Dartford, has been closed between house number 82 and the Gas Vale Compound to allow Kent County Council's highways team to clear the dumped rubbish.

Pictures show piles of wood, bin bags and other larger items have been left near a bend, blocking part of the country road.

The street was shut yesterday (Monday) and could be shut for up to seven days to allow for investigation and clearance works by the council.

There is a diversion route in place via Mussenden Lane.
