A kebab shop has had its late-night licence revoked following a “violent assault” which resulted in two people being arrested.
Kia Kebab House in Hythe Street, Dartford, will no longer be able to open beyond 11pm after councillors supported Kent Police’s application at a behind-closed-doors hearing yesterday.
Police arrested two people after a fight broke out outside the shop between a number of men in February, including one reported to have been in possession of an offensive weapon.
Following the disturbance, licensing officers at Kent Police requested a review of the takeaway's licence due to its failure to promote public safety and the prevention of crime and disorder.
Officers are investigating an incident which took place in the early hours of February 24, which was said to be “a breach of the premises licence conditions” and a “clear failure” to promote the prevention of crime and disorder.
Papers submitted by PC Dan Hunt, of the Dartford Community Safety Unit, read: “The incident occurred while Kia Kebab was in the process of closing.
“This incident developed into a violent assault between Kia Kebab staff and the public, and involved the use of weapons.
"To date, the incident has resulted in the arrest of two persons – one of which is a member of staff.

“The police investigation into this incident is ongoing and, as such, it is requested that this be a closed hearing.”
Kia Kebab has had a “late-night refreshment licence” for “several years”, allowing the business to sell hot food and drink until 1am on Sundays to Wednesdays, and 3.30am on Thursdays to Saturdays.
The current premises holder is named as Bayram Kagantekin.
Members of the public and press were excluded from the hearing, but Kent Police has since confirmed the late-night licence has been revoked.
PC Hunt added: "All licence-holders must play their part in keeping Dartford a safe place to live, work and visit, and we will not hesitate to take action when we feel there has been a breach of this shared responsibility.
"I hope the public will be reassured by this result, which demonstrates our commitment to tackling crime and disorder within the borough."
