This is the moment part of the Thames' last standing power station was brought down.

Dartford residents described hearing a loud bang and shaking at midnight last night as a section Littlebrook's Power Station was demolished.

It's the fifth explosion at the site, which closed in 2015, with the whole project expected to be completed in 2020.

The station's boiler house and ancillary structures were brought down in the 10-second explosion.

The timing of the event coincided with a rolling roadblock on the QEII Bridge to avoid drivers being distracted by the flash of light and bang that can be seen in the video.

Brown and Mason are planning more demolitions throughout the year and into next to bring the power station down fully.

But the demolition has proved unpopular with some enthusiasts, with Tony Mack threatening to chain himself to the chimney to stop the plan.
