Firefighters rescued a woman from her car after a collision in Sussex Road, Dartford

A young woman was rescued from her car by firefighters after a crash this afternoon.

Two crews from Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called out to Sussex Road, Dartford, at 1.30pm.

Crews took the roof off the vehicle and released the woman who was trapped by her injuries.

She was handed over to the care of South East Coast Ambulance Service.

A spokesman said: "A woman received a head injury. We send a car and an ambulance to the incident. The woman was described as a passenger aged around 20.

"Her injuries are not believed to be serious but she was taken into Kings College Hospital as a priority."

Emergency services left the scene just after 2.30pm.

Meanwhile the traffic leading up to the Dartford crossing remains backed up to Orpington on the M25, and to Bexley on the A2.
