The eagerly anticipated opening of England's longest zipwire has been delayed for a second time.

Disappointed thrill-seekers were contacted ahead of the scheduled opening to be told the new attraction at Bluewater has been pushed back.

New dates are being arranged for those with bookings for the Hangloose Adventure course with details on the company's website saying the first sessions will now be next Monday, June 21.

The original opening date of May 14 was postponed in April and had to be pushed back by more than three weeks to June 7.

Four 725m-long lines are suspended from a tower 15.5m sitting on top of a 40m high chalk cliff and will run 180ft above the former quarry housing the shopping centre near Dartford.

It is the longest in England and is set to be the first thrill-seeking attraction followed by a skydive machine, climbing and giant swing.

Hangloose says difficulties sourcing building materials has been the cause of the latest setback.

A spokesperson for Hangloose said: “Our team is working hard behind the scenes to ensure Hangloose is open as quickly and safely as possible.

"A shortage of building materials has caused a slight delay for a small number of guests, and we have contacted those affected to re-arrange their bookings.”

Hangloose Adventure is set amongst 50 acres of parkland at the shopping centre, which has been awarded Green Flag status for the fifth year.

Managers are now working hard to ensure the "perfect" opening for the first customers.

Final checks are now gearing up as the same team of safety engineers behind rides at Disney and Legoland sign off the last remaining safety checks.

It has been more than three years in the making but is hoped the signature attraction will boost Bluewater's attraction offer and attract visitors from afar afield as Japan and America.
