Armed police have been called to Dartford railway station after reports of a man armed with a sword.
Pictures on social media show officers with weapons at the station, and suggest a man had got on a train at Greenhithe with a samurai sword.
British Transport Police said officers were called shortly before 12.45pm to Dartford station after reports of a man in possession of "a large knife."
Officers from BTP and Kent Police were quickly on scene and detained a man on the platforms at the station.
A 23-year-old man was arrested on possession of an offensive weapon, and is being taken to custody.
There are no reported injuries.
During the arrest a taser device was drawn but not deployed.
This incident is not currently believed to be terror related.
Eyewitness David Johnson tweeted: "#Dartford excellent response to person with large knife/sword on #London bound train by @BTP and @SouthernRailUK. On platform as driver radioed in #armedpolice on site in a minute, passengers off and managed. Well done."
