A man has been arrested after a woman was hit by a car and seriously injured in Swanley.

The air ambulance, several ambulances and police were called to St Mary's Road at about 2.30pm after a woman was struck by a car.

The road was closed while police investigated and a 55-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault at the scene.

The woman was taken to a London hospital following the collision, suffering from serious injuries.

The man has been bailed, pending further inquiries, until Wednesday, May 25.
