Nike trainers suspected of being stolen prompt arrest in Bevan Place, Swanley

Two men have been arrested after a new pair of Nike trainers and a backpack believed to have been stolen from a car were seized.

Police are urging Swanley residents to check CCTV and dashcam footage after a duo suspected of breaking into vehicles were detained by officers.

The men were caught by officers responding to reports of criminal activity in the town, during the early hours of Wednesday, September 20.

It is reported that at around 3am two suspects were seen trying car door handles and entering people’s driveways.

They were identified following fast-track CCTV inquiries and arrested in Bevan Place.

Suspected stolen items were seized, including a backpack and a brand-new pair of Nike trainers.

Investigating officers are now appealing to homeowners and motorists to check doorbell cameras and dashcams for any suspicious activity.

A spokesman for the force said: “If you think you have been a victim of crime related to these incidents, or have any information that may assist the investigation, contact Kent Police on 01622 604100, quoting reference 46/169233/23.

The two men arrested were later bailed with conditions, pending further inquiries, to return to a police station on December 19.
