Charlton face a replay at home to Barnet in their bid to secure a place in the second round of the FA Cup, after a goalless draw at Underhill on Saturday.
Johnnie Jackson had two chances to take the lead for the Addicks inside the opening 20 minutes. The midfielder scraped the outside of the post in the 14th minute and came close just four minutes later when his curling free kick skimmed over the Bees' goal.
Pawel Abbott replaced Joe Anyinsah at half time and came agonisingly close to scoring midway through the second half. The striker connected with a Simon Francis cross but saw his header loop over the bar.
Charlton squandered a golden chance to take the lead less than five minutes later when Paul Benson burst through the middle and into space, only to fire his shot just wide.
Barnet, who lie bottom of the Football League, almost found the net themselves with 17 minutes to go. Substitute Mauro Vilhete latched onto a George Francomb cross but was kept out by Rob Elliott.
The Addicks keeper sprung into action twice in final minutes, tipping over from Mark Marshall and Lee Holmes to deny the Bees a late sting in the tail.
The sides meet again at the Valley on Tuesday week (November 16).
