Police crackdown on anti-social behaviour in Dartford

Cyclists causing anti-social behaviour in Dartford have had their bicycles seized as part of a crackdown on crime in the area.

Police are working in partnership with Dartford Council and members of the Dartford Town Against Crime scheme to combat anti-social behaviour in the town centre.

The main aim is to deny offenders the use of any item which is likely to be used to cause alarm or distress, especially by use of pedal cycles.

Officers have been out and about patrolling on foot and police bicycles to catch people using bicycles in an anti-social manner.

Between 10am on Monday and 4pm on Tuesday six bicycles were surrendered.

Police also seized three cans of alcohol and used dispersal powers to ensure seven people left the town centre.

Police Sergeant David Crompton said: "Kent Police will not tolerate anti-social behaviour and will continue to work to keep Dartford a safe and enjoyable place to live, work and visit.

"Anyone seen acting in an anti-social manner will be dealt with accordingly and I’d like to remind people that any nuisance use of bicycles can result in their removal and confiscation."
