More than £4,600 has been raised to bring back a man back to the UK after he was injured in a quad bike accident.
Michael Welsh, from Bean, broke his hip and collar bone, as well as suffering concussion, when he came off his ATV while turning a corner in Kefalonia, Greece.
The 30-year-old, who was left bed-bound with a leg brace from the accident and needing stitches, was told by his insurance company they wouldn't pay out and a fundraiser was set up to try and cover the estimated £6,000 costs.
Friend Alex Fisher said: "We were desperately trying to get him back home to England and get him the best possible medical treatment he needs to start his rehabilitation.
"He was able to fly but due to the insurance company refusing to pay out we are looking to try to fundraise to help alleviate the financial burden.
"Any additional funds raised beyond the target goal will go to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust."
Five days after setting up the fundraiser, £4,650 was raised from well-wishers and Michael, from Bean, near Dartford, was able to make the 4,500 miles trip back to the UK.
The data administrator is being assessed locally to get a second opinion and an overall view of his current state.
Posting on an online fundraiser, Alex added: "Once we know more we will be sure to update you here. After this will start the journey of rehabilitation and getting Michael well enough to get back to some normality.
"We still have a long road ahead but the first step has been done. As always please continue to share the campaign as we get closer to our new goal."
