Dartford Crossing: One-hour delays on approach to tunnels as queues stretch back to Junction 4 for Orpington on M25

Motorists are facing heavy delays on the approach to the Dartford Crossing this afternoon.

Heavy traffic is causing what the AA describe as "severe delays" on the M25 leading to the tunnels heading out of Kent.

It is estimated the delays are adding an hour onto journey times.

The road network was expected to be busier than usual today due to Boxing Day sales combining with the on-going industrial action on the rails which means there are no trains operating in the county today.

According to reports, the queues heading to the tunnels stretch back to Junction 4 of the M25 - the turn-off to Orpington.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
