Bogus callers have robbed a 90-year-old woman after conning their way into her home.

The unsuspecting pensioner, from Dartford, invited the two men into her kitchen after they knocked on her door claiming to be carrying out water pressure checks for the council.

Once the pair had gone, she realised they had got into her bedroom and taken about £50 from her handbag and a mobile phone top-up voucher.

On the same day two men knocked on the door of a 71-year-old woman in the same road, telling her they were working on a boiler next door so may be noisy.

Knowing her neighbour was not home, she alerted the police.

Police have issued a warning to residents in the borough to be on their guard following the two incidents on Tuesday, April 7.

One of the men is described as having an Irish accent, around 5ft 6in, slim, with mousey-brown hair and in his early 20s. The other was described as being the same height, with blond messy hair, and of average build. Both were wearing dark zip-up jackets and blue jeans.
