Stereo Kicks split shatters boyband dreams for Charlie Jones of Wilmington Grammar School for Boys

The lyric "crying on my bedroom floor" from Stereo Kicks' debut single has probably never been more poignant now the band have split just weeks after it was released.

The eight-piece boyband announced they are going separate ways as being unsigned was "tough" and that they can no longer carry on.

The break-up is a major blow for band's youngest member Charlie Jones, who had missed many days of school in order to promote the group.

Charlie, a pupil at Wilmington Grammar School for Boys in Dartford, said in a statement on Twitter: "We are so sad to announce the end of the road for us as a band but as a fan base you really raised the bar and we couldn't have wished for anything more.

"Me and the boys are all great friends and always will be, jeez Barclay is coming on holiday with me!! Bants!

"We pursued every avenue to make this work but without a label and the funding this brings unfortunately we could no longer continue.

"On a personal note I will always be involved in music and plan to start on new projects soon and hope to take you all with me."

The band released a statement on their official Facebook account on Saturday. It said: "We all feel the time has come for us to now continue our journeys individually.

"We have learnt first-hand just how tough the industry is as an unsigned act. Unfortunately, due to these circumstances, we are no longer able to carry on as a band.
