Fundraisers ran through walls of coloured foam to raise £20,000 to support seriously-ill children in a unique run held for the first time in Kent.

Around 800 people took part in the Demelza Hospice Care for Children Bubble Rush in Central Park, Dartford, on Sunday, as fundraisers made their way around a 5km circuit while running through coloured foam.

The run was only the second to take place in the south east and the first in Kent.

On the day, £20,000 was raised to provide care for more than 800 children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions and their families.

Among those taking part was Dartford mayor Ian Armitt, who said a few words before starting the first wave of fun runners.

Demelza events manager Emma Middleton said: “We are so pleased with how our Kent Bubble Rush event went – it was such a huge success.

“We had so much fantastic feedback from everyone and we are overwhelmed with how much money has been raised.

“We cannot say thank you enough to all those who took part – everyone really got into the bubble spirit.”
