Police are searching for a driver who ditched their car down a country lane after a high-speed chase around a Dartford housing estate.

The motorist failed to stop when requested at around 11.30am today in the Temple Hill area.

Officers had been on a routine patrol when they spotted the vehicle driving over the speed limit in St Vincents’ Avenue.

A chase ensued after it failed to stop and police pursued the car before they lost sight of it.

Numerous sightings were reported by concerned residents on social media.

A police helicopter was then brought in to assist officers searching for the vehicle and it was later found abandoned in Joyce Green Lane.

The vehicle was recovered and inquiries to locate the owner are ongoing.
