A fire which broke out in a kitchen in a home near Dartford claimed the life of the owners' pet cat.
The fire happened at just after 10pm last night in Turner Road, Bean, near Dartford.
Two fire engines and the KFRS Volunteer Response Team attended, with firefighters wearing breathing apparatus using hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and a high pressure fan to clear the house of smoke.
The cat died despite efforts to give it oxygen using an animal mask.
The people living in the property were supported by the Volunteer Response Team. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
