Motorbike owner threatened by hammer in attempted robbery outside ‘We Are Beams’ car park in St David’s Road, Swanley

CCTV footage has been released after a motorbike owner was threatened with a hammer confronting a robber suspected of trying to steal his bike.

In the video three people on two mopeds can be seen stopping outside the We Are Beams charity car park in St David’s Road, Swanley.

One of the group is alleged to have attempted to steal a parked motorbike and when confronted by the owner, threatened him with a hammer.

Detectives have been carrying out enquiries since the incident which happened at around 1.30pm on Tuesday, June 25.

They have now released CCTV in the hope it may jog people’s memories and lead to them identifying the three people in the footage.

A spokesman from the disabled children's charity confirmed that it was a colleague’s motorbike on site that they had targeted.

“Two employees saw them attempt to steal the bike, ran over and tried to shoo them off," he said.

“Once they both saw us coming, they soon scarpered.

“We then reported it straight away to the police."
