Chapel saved from homes

A former hospital chapel at the centre of a planning storm will not be turned into housing.

The application for two houses in the derelict building on the fomer West Hill Hospital site in Dartford was turned down by councillors.

Owner Barrett Homes was looking to turn the chapel, originally earmarked for community use, into homes.

The company said it opted for the change after failing to find someone wishing to take the building on for community use.
