A charity tribute is planned to mark 21 years since the brutal murder of school girl Claire Tiltman later this month.

Tilt, as she was nicknamed by friends, was just 16 when she was stabbed more than 40 times in an alleyway off London Road, Greenhithe, on her way home to Woodward Terrace.

The Justice for Claire campaign was set up by six of her friends last year following the death of Claire’s father, Cliff, who went to his grave not knowing who killed his only daughter.

And 21 years on the murder remains unsolved and on January 18, 2014, her friends are holding a charity tribute night.

The evening will include a live performance from Abba Gold, a celebration of her life and the aim of raising funds for EllenorLions Hospice and the Fire Fighters Charity.

The event will take place at Princes Park, Dartford FC’s ground.

Best friend and Justice for Claire organiser Lisa Gribbin said: “It will be a celebration of her life and we are aiming to raise much needed funds for two charities which we believe would have been close to Tilt’s heart if she was here today.”

Claire was determined to become a firefighter so half of the money raised will be given to The Fire Fighters’ Charity which provides care for serving and retired firefighters, fire personnel and their families.

The rest will be donated to EllenorLions Hospices, where Claire’s mother Linda was cared for before dying from cancer in 2008.

Fellow Justice for Claire organiser Joanne Roberts added: “We have an amazing live band so it should be a great evening to dress up and dance the night away, as well as a chance to help some really good charities.

"We really hope lots of local people come along to enjoy themselves.”

The charity evening in January will be held at Princes Park, Dartford, from 7.30pm until midnight.
