Charlton’s poor home form continued on Saturday when Tomasz Cwyka scored the only goal to give Barnsley victory at The Valley.
Having not won in front of their own fans since August, the Addicks have dropped to within three points of the Championship relegation zone.
It was all Barnsley early on as Cwyka, Stephen Dawson and Jacob Mellis all tried their luck from distance. Chris Dagnall almost put the visitors in front when his shot was saved by Charlton goalkeeper Ben Hamer.
There was a rare moment of promise at the other end when Barnsley keeper Ben Alnwick pushed a free-kick by Dale Stephens over the bar.
But Cwyka scored what proved to be the winner on 64 minutes. Bradley Pritchard had a shot saved by Alnwick but there was no way back for the hosts.
