Charlton were sunk by a Charlie Austin strike as Burnley inflicted the Addicks’ eighth home defeat of the season on Saturday.
Austin scored the only goal when his 25-yard effort three minutes before half-time flew into the top corner.
Charlton piled on the pressure in the second half. Striker Danny Haynes was denied by a fine save from Lee Grant while Michael Morrison, pictured, also came close to an equaliser.
Boss Chris Powell said: “The performance was good from the players. They stuck at it and tried their best, especially in the final third, to make things happen.
“But we came across a side that were resilient in their defending.”
The Addicks are 15th in the Championship, seven points clear of the relegation zone.
