Charlton's home win over Walsall on Monday, their second 1-0 victory in 48 hours, means Chris Powell's men need just five points from their last four games to be mathematically sure of promotion from League 1.

Following Saturday's success at Oldham, the league leaders had little time to think about their next match.

Dany N'Guessan scored his third goal in five games since joining the Addicks on loan from Millwall when he headed in from Johnnie Jackson's free-kick on 35 minutes.

Walsall had a good opportunity to equalise but Jon Macken shot off target following a mistake from Charlton keeper Ben Hamer.

Charlton will win promotion next Saturday if they win at Carlisle and Sheffield Wednesday fail to beat Colchester on the same day.
