Manager Chris Powell has called for his players to adopt a calmer approach after watching Charlton lose at home to 10-man Watford on Tuesday evening.
The Addicks fell behind to Tommie Hoban’s 29th-minute header but deservedly equalised six minutes later through Ricardo Fuller.
And things looked good for Charlton when Watford’s Fernndo Foresttieri was sent off before the break.
But, despite creating a number of chances, the Addicks were unable to find a second goal and it was Watford who claimed the three points thanks to Almen Abdi’s 70th-minute free kick.
The defeat leaves Charlton with nine points after as many matches and Powell insisted afterwards that keeping a level head will be key in turning around their fortunes.
“We’ve been hurt by two set plays,” he said. “But I suppose things aren’t really falling for us at the moment.
“We had a lot of possession. You’ve got to keep calm at times. I know everyone think it’s against 10 men and you’ve got to be a bit gung-ho. But I think you’ve just got to keep calm and make sure you don’t lose the game. “
