Charlton Athletic maintained their six point lead at the top of League 1 with a 2-0 derby win over Leyton Orient at The Valley on Saturday.
Scott Wagstaff (pictured) was the hero for the hosts with a match-winning performance on his 22nd birthday, bundling Charlton ahead when a quickly-taken free-kick freed Rhoys Wiggins to cross from the left on seven minutes.
Leon Cort saw a second goal chalked out for handball before the break while at the other end a combination of keeper Ben Hamer and Wiggins prevented Ben Chorley from equalising while Hamer also denied Matthew Spring's drive before the interval.
After the break O's keeper Paul Rachubka foiled Bradley Wright-Phillips and loanee Lee Cook with a superb double-save after a Danny Hollands long-throw before Kevin Lisbie headed a Spring corner wide at the other end just over 20 minutes from time.
Substitute Dany N'Guessan eventually settled any nerves eight minutes from time with a booming header from a sublime Cook cross for his second goal at The Valley in as many games.
With six games remaining, Sheffield United remain in second, six points behind the Addicks after a 1-0 win at Hartlepool, with neighbours Wednesday a further two points behind in third after beating Preston 2-0.
The win did secure Charlton's place in the League 1 play-offs, though their ambitions remain loftier.
