Winning at Huddersfield Town last weekend was an important result.

With the situation in the Championship changing every weekend – Barnsley and Peterborough United both got good results on Tuesday night, for example – nothing is ever certain.

Our job is to just keep racking up the points and make sure we ensure that we are again playing second-tier football next season before the final few matches of the campaign.

It was important for us to get a clean sheet at the John Smith’s Stadium. It was our first since the start of December and that, perhaps, illustrates why our results have been mixed at times. It’s difficult to win games without that foundation of keeping clean sheets but last Saturday we showed that one goal can be enough.

I was pleased with my own performance as well. The pitch wasn’t great and was difficult to play football on, so there were a lot of crosses to come and claim, particularly when Huddersfield were applying plenty of pressure.

It’s my job to make saves but it’s always nice when you manage to make a couple of good ones and play your part in the victory.

The lads were buzzing after the final whistle and taking four points from the away matches against Peterborough United and Huddersfield last week was the perfect way to approach Saturday’s match against Millwall, when we’ve got a 12.30pm kick-off.

Everyone knows that we haven’t been good enough at home this season but that hasn’t been down to a lack of effort. If we’re going to get some home form going, perhaps there isn’t a better place to start than a big derby game. I’ve played in a few derbies before, in Yorkshire and Devon and watched the north London derby from the bench, so this will be the biggest one that I have been involved with.

The past few weeks have been great for me. I won’t lie, I was a little frustrated beforehand because I wasn’t out there showing everyone what I
can do.

But Ben Hamer was playing well and has been fantastic to me in the past few weeks as well. We have got a good group of keepers and I have enjoyed it since I joined the club.

We have got nine games left and want to keep the momentum going now.

Perhaps last week’s results took the pressure off us a little, but we are not safe yet. We need to carry on that good work.
