Charlton manager Chris Powell has continued his summer shopping after signing goalkeeper Ben Hamer and Andy Hughes.
The two arrivals make it 15 new signings for Powell (pictured) since the end of last season.
Hamer joins for an undisclosed fee from Reading, while experienced Hughes arrives on a free, after being released by Scunthorpe at the end of last season.
Goalkeeper Hamer has been with Reading since 2005 but his only league experience has come during loan stints at various clubs. Last season he twice faced Charlton.
He was with Exeter when they won 3-1 at The Valley and played for Brentford in their 2-1 win over Charlton.
Hamer is now hoping for success with his new club.
He said: "The club has the potential to push on so I’m delighted to come onboard. I want to help Charlton get into the Championship."
Hughes, 33, can play in midfield or as a full-back and has previously played for Oldham, Notts County, Reading, Norwich and Leeds.
Like Hamer, he is also hoping for success at The Valley in League 1 this season. He has previously been promoted from the division with Leeds two seasons ago.
He said: "The plan at this club is to try and get out of the league as quickly as possible and I’m delighted that the manager wants me to be part of it."
