Climbing up 'the apples and pears' of a hospital will bear free fruit from a new stall launched by one half of iconic duo, Chas and Dave.
A 'Five a Day' fruit and veg stall was opened outside Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford on Monday by rockney musician, Dave Peacock.
The stall will be based at the hospital on Mondays and Fridays and currently has a promotion where visitors can obtain free fruit.
Visitors can pick up a voucher from the stall on entry and in pairs walk up the hospital stairs.
When exiting they can then exchange the voucher for a free apple or pear each.
Louise Ashley, chief executive of Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust was at the grand opening where she cut the ribbon to the stall with the help of Dave Peacock.
She said “It was lovely to meet Dave yesterday and assist him with the official opening of the stall.
"Having a fruit and veg stall at Darent Valley Hospital is a wonderful addition to what is on offer at the hospital, and it is great to see that it is used regularly by staff, patients and visitors alike.
"I think the introduction of the Five A Day 'Apples and Pears' promotion is a fabulous idea, not only for getting people active but also encouraging them to eat a balanced and varied diet which is so important for maintaining everyone’s health.”
Dave, best known for classic hits including Rabbit, Gertcha and Margate, said: “I have never tasted such good quality fruit and veg and what a great idea to have this stall in an NHS environment.”
