Child taken to hospital after falling off their bike during school run in Common Lane, Wilmington

A child has been taken to hospital after falling off their bike into a road near a school.

Emergency services were called to Common Lane, Wilmington this morning following reports a boy had fallen in front of traffic.

Police arrived shortly after 8am and shut the road.

Paramedics were also called to attend and the cyclist was assessed and treated at the scene. The child was not struck by a vehicle.

School staff were also reportedly seen directing traffic near the entrance to Wilmington Academy.

The child has since been taken to Princess Royal University Hospital in Orpington for further treatment.
