Closure of Galley Hill Road in Swanscombe causes summer timetable changes to Arriva buses between Dartford and Gravesend

Changes are being made to Arriva bus timetables as a result of the continued closure of a major road.

Adaptions are being made as of this Sunday (July 23) to the 470 which goes from Dartford to Gravesend via Northfleet, the 480 from Riverview Park Cascades to Dartford and the 490 from Dartford Home Gardens to Kings Farm.

Under the changes the 480 and 490 wil split at Gravesend and new routes, named 480A and 490A, will be created.

The timetables for the new 480A and 490A will not be available to view on the Arriva website until July 23.

The changes have been forced to take place following the continued closure of the A226 between Swanscombe High Street and Ebbsfleet Football Club in Northfleet.

The road collapsed back in March and Kent County Council is assessing the site and its options on how to repair it.

KCC Councillor Peter Harman said: “The road closure was so severe it is really like starting over again.

“We need to consider all the options and what would be best for the area rather than just replacing the road as it was.”
