The brother of outspoken comic Jim Davidson revealed his shock when the stand-up agreed to help him at a charity event in Dartford.
Bill Davidson said he was stunned when the Celebrity Big Brother winner phoned him about attending the fundraiser on Saturday at the Glentworth Ex-Services Club in Lowfield Street.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to Care After Combat, an organisation that offers assistance to Armed Forces veterans and their families.
The charity was launched by the comic and Falklands hero Simon Weston.
The group calls on former servicemen to mentor veterans who have found themselves in prison after returning to civilian life.
Bill, 73, said: "He’s my brother and I still didn’t know he was going to turn up.
"He just said ‘I’m going to be down on Saturday, save me some space because I’m going to sell some merchandise from a stall’.
"He was supposed to be working somewhere else on the day but it never transpired so I got the call out of the blue.
"He will be great for the show. We think it could increase our crowd capacity."
A number of live performances will take place at the fundraiser, which is on from 11am to 9.30pm. Entry is £5, children under 16 get in free.
Asked whether the comedian and former Big Break is likely to deliver an impromptu routine, Bill said it was possible his brother would address visitors.
Bill added: "He does like a microphone and to be the centre of attention so he might end up saying a few words."
