Crews battled a blaze that raged in a residential street for more than four hours.
Eight fire engines and a water carrier were called to the scene in Birchwood Road, Dartford, just before 3.45pm after receiving reports that flames had engulfed caravans and outdoor waste.
Initial advice for people living nearby to keep their windows and doors closed to protect themselves from the smoke has been lifted.
A fire service spokesman said: "Firefighters are making steady progress in extinguishing a large outdoor fire involving a number of caravans.
"Three fire engines remain at the scene and crews have been using main jets and water from a hydrant to tackle the blaze and dampen down remaining hot spots.
"No casualties have been reported and the cause is not yet known."
