Around 20 firefighters tackled a large grass fire in a field about the size of five football pitches.
Crews were called out to Hartley Bottom Road in Hartley where large plumes of smoke could be seen in the area.
The fire was close to the railway line.
Crews remain at the scene, having been called out shortly after 2.30pm when four fire engines were sent.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service also sent an all terrain vehicle to the area to help tackle the blaze.
Crews used beaters and backpacks to put out the flames.
Crews left at 4.29pm.
