A Kent husband and wife left with multiple injuries after baseball bat-wielding burglars attacked them while they slept appeared on Crimewatch last night.
Jas Upaul, 60, and his 59-year-old wife Rani were bound with cable ties during the raid that was recreated for the BBC show, which marked 30 years of the programme.
The pair, who were both interviewed, were asleep when three men wearing balaclavas entered their home in Highcross Road, Southfleet, by forcing the back patio doors with a paving slab.
Jewellery worth nearly £3,000, watches, passports, birth and marriage certificates as well as more than £5,000 in cash was taken.
Both victims were taken to hospital, with the husband suffering from a broken jaw, fractured eye socket, severe swelling and bruising.
The appeal asked viewers: "It is unknown if the offenders used a car, but it is probable given the rural location of the incident.
"Did you see or hear anything suspicious in the Gravesend area around the time of the attack? Has anyone tried to sell you any Indian gold jewellery?"
