Dartford went down 4-1 at home to struggling Boreham Wood in Blue Square Bet South on Saturday to suffer their first defeat in five games and their first loss in seven at Princes Park.

James Rogers came close to opening the scoring for the hosts with a lob from 25 yards and soon after Lee Noble was brought down in the box, only for the subsequent penalty from Charlie Sheringham to be saved - Sheringham's second miss from the spot in successive games (last-week's miss, pictured).

He made amends six minutes before the break when Tom Bonner was hauled down as he attempted to get on the end of a Billy Burgess cross, and this time Sheringham made no mistake, slamming the ball down the middle of the goal.

Wood were not about to roll-over though and they levelled a minute before the break with a free-kick from Mario Noto.

Noto completed a remarkable turnaround moments after the interval when he curled into the top corner past Andy Young.

Sheringham went close to a leveller around the hour, firing into the side netting after good work from Jack Pallen but Noto completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot 25 minutes from time after Burgess conceded a spot-kick with a crude challenge on David Bryant which earned him a booking.

The fourth goal arrived almost immediately after Tom Champion was too slow to clear his lines while Dartford's Lee Burns was sent-off late on amid a mass fracas with Bonner receiving a yellow card.

There have now been six penalties awarded in Darts past last two games, only three of them successfully converted.

Darts dropped to 11th with the defeat.
